August 2007 ART EXHIBIT For the month of August 2007, the Library is featuring the artistry of woodworker Richard Koch. Richard creates custom toys, furniture, decorative wall plaques, hand-carved canes & walking sticks, and much more from the Woodworking Cottage in Pelham.
This
exhibit presents a wide range of expression in wood – from an architecturally
accurate scale model of the Congregational Church to intricately carved pairs of
animals filing into Noah’s Ark.
Several wall
plaques are composed of individually carved sections of rare woods fitted
together like puzzle pieces to form delightful images of wildlife, such as these
young raccoons peeking out from the safety of their hollowed-out log. Displayed next to the stairs is a sailing vessel complete with “billowing” wooden sails, any mariner would be proud to display. For the angler, a life-like carved fish is mounted on a beautiful piece of driftwood.
Woodworking Cottage This ongoing series of exhibits features local artists to promote the arts in our community. We thank the artists for their participation and generosity in sharing their work with us.
