The Chairman, Mr. Peter McNamara, called the meeting to order at approx. 9:00 am.

Paul Dadak, Conservation Committee, ______ (a young = woman whose name I didn’t get), The applicant and his Attorney, Mr. Mason= and approximately 7-10 abutters were also present.

The site walk was started at 9 AM in= the rain, from its frontage on Surrey St.. The owner had partially cleared a p= ath into the lot, and the approximate location of the proposed division of the = lot was pointed out. There were numerous questions from the abutters, most concerning the drainage off the lot, the potential for blasting, and the pr= ior PB and ZBA actions. It was learned that, in addition to the 11/1988 Z= BA Variance denial, there was a second application to the ZBA for a Variance a= nd a Special Exception. Those were heard on Nov.8, 1993 (an abutter w= as kind enough to provide a copy of the Minutes of that meeting). The sa= me abutter stated that he had various documents from the applicant's prior Planning Board application, and he offered to bring these to the October ZBA meeting.

The abutters also pointed out drainage problems at the Surrey Street frontage, apparently involving two inadequate and/or misplaced street drains. There was some pooling of water on the street in that area.

Mr. McNamara reque= sted that the Conservation Commission provide the ZBA with written comment and recommendations, if any. The site walk concluded at approximately 9:45 AM.
