APPOINTMENTS

BUDGET REVIEW (Finance Director Janet Gallant came forward to discuss budget requests):

Transfer Stat= ion –Transfer Station Superintendent Bruce Mason came forward to disc= uss his budget request. Without t= he inclusion of the capital items, the budget was increased 1.4%. After further discussion Mr. Lynde= was asked to work with Mr. Mason to look at how recycling could be improved in = the Town.

Town Clerk/Tax Collector – Town Clerk/Tax Collector Dorothy Marsden discussed the proposed budget. Mr. Gleason = asked if there were any anticipated mandates from the state. Ms. Marsden said the only thing sh= e knew about was a laser printer. The Selectmen reviewed the budget.

Elections = 211; Town Clerk Dorothy Marsden discussed the proposed budget which showed an increase due to Presidential Primary, Town Election, State Primary, and the Presiden= tial Election.

Health Servic= es – Ms. Gallant said the budget was level funded. She reviewed the programs that the= Town utilized.

Human Service= s – Ms. Gallant discussed the budget. She discussed the requested increase for assistance and was hopeful = to fill the position. There was a discussion regarding the type/nature of assistance that was given.

TOWN ADMINISTRATOR / SELECTMEN’S REPORTS

Mr. Lynde said the last concert on the Village Green w= as a success. He informed that the= next concert (Take II rock music) on the Village Green would be held July 25, 2007 b= eginning at 6pm.

Mr. Viger said a vehicle inventory layout (chart) had been created. He asked that the Selectmen discus= s at a future meeting. Mr. Gleason w= anted to discuss it at the July 24, 2007 meeting. There was a brief discussion regar= ding the chart and how it might be implemented.= Mr. Gleason said he would like to schedule Mr. Viger to meet with the Budget Committee to discuss the proposed plan.

Mr. Gleason said he had the opportunity to go to the P= olice Department and witness their hiring process. He said after watching the physical fitness and sitting in on interviews he had a better feel that the Town was screening the candidates adequately. He applauded the Police Department for their commitment to the proce= ss. Mr. Gleason said in an effort to communicate to the various committees, he brought the Budget Committee Chai= rman in to show him where the Town was with this year’s budget and where n= ext year’s budget was headed.

Mr. Gaydos said a couple years ago the Town purchased = the MuniSmart system and the system passed the state’s certification this past week.   He said the = Town and the School would be going out to bid for all the heating oil and this year would try to include gasoline and diesel fuel. He = said the School felt by working together it would be a win-win situation.

Mr. Gleason said with the publishing of the Operating = Budget expense/revenues report there would be scrutiny. Ms. Gallant provided a brief summa= ry of the report.

There was a brief discussion regarding the next agenda= . It was also reported that there ha= d been vandalism at the park that would need to be further discussed.
