CALL TO ORDER

None.

 

Before the meeting commen= ced, the Board had a moment of silence for Firefighter Howard Mastropiero who lost h= is life. 

 

MINUTES REVIEW

 

July 15, 2008

MOTION:

 

(Haverty/Lynde= ) To approve the Ju= ly 15, 2008 meeting minutes as written.

 

VOTE:

 

(4-0-1) The mo= tion carried.  Mr. Danevich absta= ined (he was not present for the July 15th meeting).

APPOINTMENTS

 

Budget Review:

 

Assessor – Assessing Assistant Susan Snide came forward to present the 2009 budget.  The Selectmen reviewed the line items contained in the budget.  It was noted that the cyclical revaluation costs were not included in the budget because the warrant artic= le had not been written as such.  To date, the dollar amount had not been provided by Cochran; at which time the Selectmen would advise how to proceed.   

 

Transfer Station – Transfer Station Superintendent Bruce Mason met with the Selectmen to review the proposed 2009 budget.  He discussed what he had done to r= educe the overall budget.      

 

Trustees of the Trust Funds – Mr. Edmund Gleason and Ms. Cindy Ronning came forward to review the requested 2009 budget.  Mr. Gleason informed that after re= search there were three stock certificates missing, which would either have to be found or repurchased.  He note= d that the trust funds had been drawing a minimum amount of interest since 2004 because they hadn’t been invested; they’ve been placed into 6-m= onth CDs to draw some interest.  Ms. Gallant pointed out that a number of issues the auditor had in the past with the stock had been corrected.  Mr. Gleason summarized how the stocks were managed. 

 

Budget Committee – Ms. Gallant stated that the Budget Committee budget had been presented to their Chairman, who agreed to it as presented.  The Selectmen revi= ewed the proposed budget. 

 

Town Celebrations – Ms. Gallant indicated that the budget= was flat lined.  The fireworks wou= ld be increased, but would remain within the allotted budget amount.    

 

Treasurer – The Selectmen reviewed the proposed budget.  Expenses (due to postage) was incr= eased, but supplies were decreased.  =

 

Debt Service – The Selectmen reviewed the proposed budget.  The increase was due = to last year’s fire truck lease.  It would be flat lined next year.&n= bsp; There was an increase in Interest (of $4000) which would be offset by principle being decreased.     

 

Legal – Ms. Gallant discussed the proposed budget with the Selectmen.  No action would be= taken to expend the Water District funds until the end of 2008; if the Water Dist= rict doesn’t move forward, the Town will not be responsible for expending = the funds.

 

TOWN ADMINISTRATOR/SELECTMEN REPORTS

 

Mr. McDevitt stated, weat= her permitting, a concert would be held on the Village Green July 23, 2008 at 6pm.&n= bsp;

 

Mr. Danevich, Mr. Lynde, = Mr. Haverty and Mr. Viger had no reports. 

 

REQUEST FOR NON-PUBLIC SESSION

 

MOTION:

(Danevich/McDe= vitt) Request for a non-public session per RSA 91-A:3,II,a (personnel)

 

ROLL CALL:

It was noted tha= t when the Board returned, after the non-public session, the Board would not take = any other action publicly, except to possibly seal the minutes of the non-public session and to adjourn the meeting.  The Board entered into a non-public session at approximately 7:45 pm.  Also present was Mr. Gaydos. 

 

The Board returned to public session at approximately 8:05 pm.

 

MOTION:

 

(Danevich/McDe= vitt) To seal the minutes of the non-public session indefinitely.

 

VOTE:
