Vehicle Registration:
New Residents relocating from out-of-state:
Note: New Hampshire allows 60 days to change over driver’s licenses and/or motor vehicle registrations.
Proof of Residency is required:
If you own your own home: A copy of HUD statement, deed or utility bill in your name for that property.
If you rent: A Lease agreement, or
A current utility bill in your name for that property ( Electric or Propane Gas ), or
A notarized statement from the property owner stating that you are living at that address.
Instructions on registering your vehicle in NH:
If your vehicle is less than fifteen (15) years old: you will need your out-of-state
Title (a copy is not acceptable).
If your vehicle is fifteen (15) years old or more: you will need your out-of-state
registration.
If you have an out of state lienholder: you will need to bring in your current
out of state registration for the vehicle along with the lienholder’s name and address,
the town clerk’s office will prepare a NH title application and you will be charged
a $2.00 fee, you will then forward this application to the Title Bureau with a $25.00 fee.
Upon receipt of this paperwork and fee, the title bureau will make a request for your title
from the lienholder. Once the Title bureau receives your title from the lienholder, they will
send you a notice authorizing the Town Clerk’s office to issue you a registration and plates
for this vehicle. You must bring this notice in to the Town Clerk’s Office.
If your out of State Registration is expiring or expired: If your registration
is expired or is expiring within 20 days, you qualify for what the state classifies as a “60
Day Hardship” Registration. You will need to bring in your out of state registration that is
expired or expiring , or your insurance paperwork that shows the plates are cancelled.

office will prepare a Title application and Registration. We will collect your town fees
here at the Town Clerk’s Office, and you will be directed to a MV substation to pay your
state registration & title fees. Salem will issue a sixty (60) day temporary plate, then
when your title is received from your lienholder at the title bureau in Concord, then the
motor vehicle department in Concord will mail your permanent metal plates and
registration directly to you.
The owner/owners of the vehicles must come into the Town Clerk’s office personally to
complete the paperwork, as the owner/owners needs to sign the title application and
registration.
NH RESIDENTS RELOCATING TO PELHAM:
Note: The state allows 10 days to change your address on your drivers license and vehicle
registrations once you move into town.

Instructions on Changing your Address:
Drivers License: We have change of address cards here for you to pick up and mail
to Concord for your drivers license change.
Registrations: You need to bring your current registration into the Town Clerks
office and we will reprint your registration with your new address on it.
Renewals: You will need to bring in your Expiring Registration from your previous
town into the Town Clerks office.

You need to bring in your previous registration (a copy of your registration is also
acceptable) or the renewal notice that was sent to you in the mail.
Any vehicle with a GVW over 26000 lbs, you must come to the Town Clerk’s Office,
And pay your town fees first, then you will be directed to complete the registration at
A MV Substation.

New Vehicles:
New or Used Vehicles bought from out of state dealers: If it is a new vehicle you
will need the Certificate of Origin, if it is a used vehicle 15 years or younger, you
will need the title.
New or Used Vehicle bought from New Hampshire dealers: You will need to
bring in your blue copy of the Title Application to us.
Vehicles 15 years or older: You will need a bill of sale, the previous owners New
Hampshire Registration, or title assigned over to you, or a Verification of Vehicle Identification
filled out (these can be obtained from our office).
Transfer Plates/Registrations: You will need to bring your current original
registration from your vehicle that you are transferring from, along with the
appropriate paperwork from the new vehicle. Transfers cannot be completed
without the original previous registration. The transfer must be going from the
“same name to the same name” (The first name of the registration is the same name
that should be on the new paperwork. Only when a vehicle is leased can it be
different. Please call the office @ 603-635-2040 for details, as it can be very
confusing. Please remember to keep the plates and registration of your vehicle after
the sale or trade-in of it. If you have misplaced the registration, you can request a
certified duplicate registration for a fee of $18.00.

Regular license plates for vehicles and trailers with a GVW of 26,000lbs or less
Regular motorcycle plates
Vanity plates for vehicles with a GVW of 26,000 lbs or less
Motorcycle vanity plates
Moose Plates and Vanity Moose plates for vehicles with a GVW of 26,000lbs or less
