Instructions on Registering Your Vehicle in NH

  • If your vehicle year is 2000 or newer, you will need your out-of-state Title (a copy is not acceptable)
  • If your vehicle year is 1999 or older, you will need your out-of-state registration and a VIN verification form.
  • If you have an out-of-state lienholder, you will need to bring in your current out-of-state registration for the vehicle, along with the lienholder's name and address. The town clerk's office will prepare an NH title application and a registration, and you will pay both the Title Application fee and the registration fee, and you will receive permanent plates. Upon receipt of this paperwork and fee, the title bureau will make a request for your title from the lienholder. You should also reach out to your lienholder to make them aware that a request for the title will be coming to them.
  • The owner/owners of the vehicles must come into the Town Clerk's office personally to complete the paperwork, as the owner/owners need to sign the title application and registration.
