Disposal of Unusual Items
- Clothing and Textiles - Clothing, textiles are accepted and must be clean and bagged, and then placed in designated containers located in the Universal Area
- Book Bin - New or gently used books, video games, CDs (No magazines). Bins are located in the Universal Area.
- Scrap Metal - All scrap metal shall be placed in the designated area (Universal). An effort to remove as much plastic, rubber, or wood from metal is much appreciated. All barrels, drums, etc., must have one end cut out or cut in half. No junk cars or large car parts.
- Picking up light iron or any materials from the transfer station is prohibited
- Appliances / White Goods - all located in the Universal Area. Refrigerators, air conditioners, freezers, dehumidifiers, water coolers, or any Freon-containing appliance: There is a $20 charge, cash or check (made out to the Town of Pelham, NH).
- If freon is removed from unit(s) before being brought to our facility, you must fill out paperwork on where you had the freon removed. (Federal law must be removed from a certified and licensed contractor.)
- Brush - Brush only- no mixed loads - nothing over 5 inches in diameter. No stumps or other wood accepted. No leaves or grass accepted. (State law: Brush is only to be burnt) Leaves are compostable (put them in the woods, mulch them with your lawn mower, do not put them in our compost barrels.
- Brush is accepted only in the last full week of the month, which includes Saturday.
- Medical Sharps - Medical sharps are accepted: Must be placed in a thick-walled, sturdy plastic container with a tight-fitting screw cap (detergent bottle). Must be labeled and taped with the words "sharps". Not recyclable. Please give it to an attendant.
- Construction/Demolition Debris - Not accepted. You may email ReSource Salem, 87 Lowell Rd, Salem, NH, 603-894-9800. Contact your local hardware, Home Depot/Lowes, to inquire about "construction bags". The Town of Derry, NH Transfer Station should be called before going to make sure they will accept your C and D, 603-432-4650.
- Latex Paint Disposal - Should be dried out and cleaned with soap and water. Small amounts of latex paint can be dried up with sawdust/kitty litter. No wet paint. Leave covers off containers. For large amounts of latex paint put into heavy-duty trash bag(s) with sawdust/kitty litter/shredded paper, let dry out till solid or with paper crunchy. (All other types of paint/stains are hazardous waste)
- Large Furniture - Couches, tables, and chair sets, bureau sets, entertainment centers, kids' plastic toys (slides, juts, remote cars (batteries MUST be removed, etc.), will be accepted at our Transfer Station for a fee of $30 cash or check made out to Town of Pelham, NH
- Small Furniture - Recliners, 4 kitchen chairs, nightstands are accepted for a fee of $20, toilets $10, cash or check made out to Town of Pelham, NH
- Mattresses - All sizes, fee of $50, box springs - fee of $20
- Fluorescent Tubes - Items containing mercury, such as fluorescent bulbs, CFLs (compact fluorescent Light bulbs), thermostats, thermometers, button cell batteries, mercury-containing switches, cell phones, power tools, batteries, LI-ION, NI-CD, NI-MH, AND PB SMALL lead-acid, also ballasts containing PCBs (See attendant for disposal)
- No vapes or e-cigarettes.
- Electronics Containing Cathode Ray Tubes - TVs (all) fee of $30, all computer monitors/laptops, please see attendant in the Universal Area. Fees may be paid by cash or check made out to the Town of Pelham, NH
- Tires - Limit of 4 tires per week. All tire fees are $3 for each tire. On the rim is accepted. We do not accept loader, tractor, skidder, forklift, solid, or foam-filled tires.
- Waste Oil - 2-Gallon container size accepted- Motor used oil. Ask the attendant. No mixed oil with anti-freeze or gas is accepted. This is hazardous waste.
- Used Oil Filters - Are accepted, see attendant.
- Anti-Freeze - 2-Gallon container size accepted. Containers must be marked clearly. Ask attendant
- Cooking/Vegetable Oil - 2-gallon container size accepted goes into our Compost barrels.
- Automotive Batteries - Are accepted (Lead Acid only). See attendant. Give the attendant all other batteries. No batteries allowed in the recycling or trash.
