Article 17
Shall the Town vote to establish an Ambulance Replacement Revolving Fund pursuant to RSA 31:95-h where the first $25,000 in ambulance service fees collected in each calendar year would be placed in said fund? These funds would be held by the Treasurer and may only be expended for the replacement or major refurbishment of an ambulance. (Recommended by Selectmen) (Not Recommended by Budget Committee)
Status
- Originator: Fire Chief
- Board of Selectmen: 5-0-0
- Budget Committee: 1-9-0 (Gleason - yes)
- Town Meeting: no changes made during the Deliberative session
Voter's Guide Explanation
Each year, the Fire Department asks voters to support a warrant article that puts money away into a capital reserve account to replace or refurbish an ambulance. This year, the state passed new legislation that encourages towns to create a new type of revolving account that places ambulance fees collected into this new account instead of the general fund. Please see RSA 31:95-h for more information.
Passage of this warrant moves the town closer to a self-funding method of being able to refurbish or replace an ambulance when needed, keeping the tax rate stable over a longer period of time instead of having to pay for an ambulance replacement all at once.
