Ongoing Programs

 

Bone Builders Classes: During the COVID-19 crisis we are having: Monday, Wednesday and Thursdays at 9am- outside under our tent weather permitting. There is limited space and preregistration is a must.  Bone Builders is a free senior strength training and balance exercise program. It can prevent and reverse osteoporosis and improves muscle strength, balance and bone density, along with helping with energy and general health. Classes are taught by certified volunteer leaders.  Classes take place on Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays - 9am to 10am . 

During the Covid Pandemic- We have a Book, Puzzle and DVD/Blu-ray Swap. The swaps are taking place on our screen porch.  Please take care to keep 6ft apart if you visit the swap and there are other people on the porch.  We strongly encourage you to wear your mask when picking up any items from the porch. Thank you.

Monday Morning ZOOM Coffee Hour: join us Monday mornings for coffee and conversation. Emails are sent out each week with the special invite code.  If you are not in our database and want to join us, contact Sara at the Hobbs Center- 635-3800.  

Weekly ZOOM Nutrition Classes: These programs are free of charge and offered to anyone in our database. if you are interested in joining these classes, contact Sara and get in our database! 

Senior Fitness: takes place every Tuesdays and Thursdays at 11am. - UNDER THE TENT. This is a 45 minute class lead by Brian Coyne our fitness instructor.  Pre-registration is  required. Brian Coyne, our instructor, is certified by the National Academy of Sports Medicine (NASM-CPT) with over 10 years of experience working with seniors. It is his true passion and he continues his learning by attending training pertaining to senior fitness and wellness. Brian spends his spare time enjoying the great outdoors with his wife Heidi, 4 year old son Logan and thefamily dog Rosie.

Cornhole- Tuesdays 9am to 10:30am UNDER THE TENT: This fun game requires some skill, a good amount of luck and a competetive attitude!  It is run by our Pelham COA.  Friday morning Cornhole will begin on July 10th.  Games will be played outside weather permitting. Pre-registration is a must!

The following regular programs are on hold during the pandemic:

Video Exercise: at 11am on Thursdays. Join our dedicated group as we exercise together. This is a free program! 

 
Wii Bowling: Join us every Wednesday morning at 11am for Wii bowling. No experience is needed, this is free!
 

Tai Chi: We are currently having Tai Chi every week on Tuesdays under the tent during July.  This is a free class, donations can be made to the PCOA to help cover the cost of the tent. 

Bingo: Senior Bingo is overseen by the PCOA. Bingo takes place every Friday at 1pm. Check in and card sales from 12:30pm to 12:45pm! NO cards are sold after 12:45pm!!!! Just .25 cents per card! There is only room for 48 players each day- so come early to get your seat reserved!!  A full copy of our Participant Rules are available at the Senior Center!  For more information about the Bingo program, talk with Susan at the Hobbs Community Center.

Lunches: St. Joseph's Community Services congregate meals take place Tuesday - Friday at noon. Meals are a requested $2.00 per meal donation. All meals must be ordered one week in advance. ONLY seniors 60+ can order meals.   For a calendar of meals see Susan Boucher in the Kitchen.

Cards, Puzzles, Games and/or Socialize: Seniors get together Wednesday- Friday mornings to play cards, games and socialize at our Center. Stop by for a cup of tea or coffee and join in.

Cribbage: Play Tuesday afternoons from 1pm to 3pm

45's: Currently, this program is on a break and will resume in March 2020. Wednesday afternoons games begin at 1pm.  The folks from this group take the summer off and it will resume on September 4th.

Movies: Tuesday afternoon we show movies at our Center. All movies begin at 1pm-except the Pizza Movie which begins at NOON! Check out the newsletter for details of upcoming movies!
