Marriage Licenses
To obtain a Marriage License
- Marriage Licenses are by appointment only.
- Both Parties need to come to the Town Clerk's office together.
- The license is only valid in New Hampshire
- The license is valid for 90 days from the day you apply
If the officiant is not a New Hampshire resident, U.S. Judge, U.S. Bankruptcy Judge, Magistrate Judge residing in NH, or Supreme Court Justice, NH Superior Court Judge, or NH Circuit Court Judge, they must obtain a Special Marriage License from the Secretary of State's Office:

Special Marriage Officiant Licenses
Documents Needed
- A Certified birth certificate, long form (pocket cards NOT accepted) (a Passport does ot take place of a birth certificate)
- A certified copy of the death certificate of a former spouse if the applicant is widowed
- A certified copy of the divorce/dissolution decree
- If documents are not in English, they must be translated into English and notarized.
Fees
- The cost of a marriage license or civil union is $50.
- The cost of a certified copy of the marriage license is $15 for the 1st copy and $10 for each additional
- Cash, check, or Credit Card is accepted (2.99 Percent fee with credit card)
Marriage Ceremonies
We are happy to offer wedding ceremonies here at Town Hall for couples who would simply like to exchange vows. You can call our office to make an appointment at 603-635-2040. You can either exchange vows in a ceremony outdoors (weather permitting) or in a separate room (if available). No witnesses are required; however, you are more than welcome to bring a small group of guests with you.
The total cost is $215 ($150 for the JP, $50 for the license, and $15 for your marriage certificate). We accept cash, checks, and credit cards. Please note that if you use a credit card, there is an additional fee of 2.99% of the transaction amount.
